The Woman in the Wings

©Andy May, Lauren LeCroy May, James Heffernan (Swift River Music)

Andy:  Many folks ask me if this song is about my mom. As I started to write it, I surely was inspired by her example. Then, Lauren LeCroy May added her wise touch to the lyric, and Jim Heffernan brought some good insight, as well. When the song was complete, I felt like we had created something that not only honored my mom but also made a statement about all people who encourage good things in the lives of those around them. Their encouragement lives on long after it is given.    (… more, credits, lyrics)

I have watched as a remarkable group of folks my age and older (some of whom I am lucky enough to call friends) navigate the challenges of life and the marketplace and live life fully. “My old friend” in this song is really a mix of a bunch of folks: Men and women I know or have observed who have impressed me over the last few years. With age has come wisdom and humility, and their music has stayed fresh and fun.  —AM  (… more, credits, lyrics)

“At the Fork in the Road”

©Andy May (Swift River Music/BMI)

Andy: This started out as a sketch I wrote about a move I had made out to Colorado many years ago. The sketch became a song about losing and starting over again, and a tribute to a time, a place, and the people who helped me learn to turn things around for the better. About keeping the faith – and your sense of humor – even when plans change.  (…lyrics, credits)
