The 47th Walnut Valley Festival will be held September 12-16, 2018, and will feature more than 30 bands and individual performers, providing a blend of all kinds of acoustic music: bluegrass, folk, old-time country, a little bit cowboy, some Irish, blues, Cajun, and more.
Taking the stage at #WVF47 will be Balsam Range, Byron Berline, Roz Brown, Tom Chapin & Friends, Crary, Evans & Barnick, Bing Futch, Beppe Gambetta, GASS, Marley’s Ghost, Andy May, John McCutcheon, Joshua Messick Trio, Mountain Smoke, The Outside Track, Barry Patton, Socks in the Frying Pan, Dave Stamey, The Steel Wheels, Still on the Hill, Billy Strings, Linda Tilton, Molly Tuttle and Barry Ward. Other performers will be added as contracts are finalized.
Several pre-festival workshops, delivered by festival performers, will kick things off on September 12. Eight acoustic instrument contests, including two international and five national competitions, will be held over the course of the festival. Along with the National Flat-Pick Championships and the International Finger Style Championships, the Walnut Valley Festival hosts the International Autoharp, National Mandolin, National Mountain Dulcimer, National Hammered Dulcimer, National Bluegrass Banjo, and Walnut Valley Old Time Fiddle Championships.
