Curtis McPeake, Andy May, & Gene Watson on Deck for the Justin Reed Show

May 3, 2018 – Episode 229: At 9 a.m., 90-year-old banjo legend Curtis McPeake, along with guitar virtuoso Andy May, will appear on the show to promote their new project, The Good Things (Outweigh the Bad), available now. Throughout his 70-year career in bluegrass, McPeake has been a member of Bill Monroe’s Bluegrass Boys and stood in for Earl Scruggs.

McPeake & May – “The Good Things” Released: Two Shows Planned!

The new CD from banjo legend Curtis McPeake and Andy May, The Good Things (Outweigh the Bad) was released today. To celebrate, there are two concerts planned: one in Nashville, and one in west Tennessee, where McPeake grew up. Fiddler Aubrey Haynie and bassist Tim Dishman, who played on the project, will round out the band for both shows.

Andy on Tour in early 2018 with “MerleFest​ on the Road”

Andy is honored to have been chosen as the only solo artist on the 2018 tour of MerleFest​ on the Road, an ensemble show presenting past and present MerleFest artists who represent the festival’s mission of celebrating traditional-plus music. The tour will run February 22 to March 4 and will play some great venues around the Southeast. From Nashville to Asheville, from Aberdeen to Dallas (in NC, that is), we’ll be bringing you a taste of MerleFest in the late winter – just when you really need it!
