The Walnut Valley Festival is the longest-running Acoustic Kids Program. Acoustic Kids has been a part of the festival every year since 1991. After a few years of perfecting the formula, we have hosted 2 2-hour showcases every year: 9-11 a.m. Friday and Saturday on Stage 2.
Through the years, some amazing young musicians have come through Acoustic Kids at Winfield. Past participants include, among many others: Chris Thile, Sara Watkins, and Sean Watkins of Nickel Creek, who went on to international stardom, and up-and-comers like Ethan Setiawan, Myles Thompson, The KBA Treblemakers, Julian Davis, Scenic Roots, and Rainy and the Rattlesnakes.
Winfield is also the home of our most dedicated fans: There are some who have never missed an Acoustic Kids Showcase there in all those years!
In 2016, we introduced our Acoustic Kids Ambassadors to the Winfield audience. A spin-off of the regular Acoustic Kids Showcases, the main stage Acoustic Kids Ambassadors show allows us to give young emerging artists a spotlight as they represent the Acoustic Kids program to a broader audience. These young professionals will leave you no room for doubt that, “the music is in good handsTM!” Acoustic Kids Ambassadors are chosen from among the Acoustic Kids Showcase participants.

- Registration period: July 1 -August 15. Late registrations will be accepted as long as there is room in the showcases, but late registrants will not be eligible for Ambassadors. If the registration form is still open, we are still accepting registrations. 🙂
- Performance demos of up to three pieces you want to perform in the showcase are a required part of the registration. Please be sure to read the Demo Nitty-Gritty in our FAQ,
